Stuart Rae

Dr Stuart Rae is a Research Associate specialising in Environmental Geochemistry at Manchester Metropolitan University.

After completing his PhD programme at the University of Manchester, he held positions working as a consultant and within industry, specialising in water quality analysis and the development and implementation of innovative sensor and data logging technologies.

During his career, he has undertaken fieldwork campaigns in a range of challenging environments including urban sewer networks, remote tidal marshes and upland peatlands, and has developed expertise in a wide range of analytical chemistry laboratory techniques.

As part of the Coastal Ecosystems Research Group Stuart focuses on the collection and analysis of natural sediment and fluid samples, in order to better understand the chemical character of saltmarsh ecosystems.
